Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all generator and equipment hire services provided by Hanson Hire. Last updated 5 November 2026.

1. Definitions

"Hanson Hire" (the Company) provides electrical generator hire, equipment hire, and related services. The "Customer" is the person or entity engaging the Company for hire services. "Equipment" includes all generators, accessories, and equipment provided under a quote or invoice.

2. Hire Period and Return

The hire period begins from the agreed start date and time and ends on the agreed return date and time. Equipment must be returned by the agreed return time unless an extension has been agreed in writing. Overruns beyond the agreed period may incur additional charges at the Company's standard daily rate.

3. Condition of Equipment

All equipment is provided in good working condition and has been tested prior to dispatch. The Customer is responsible for the safekeeping and proper use of equipment during the hire period. Equipment must be returned in the same condition as supplied, allowing for reasonable wear and tear. Any damage caused by misuse, neglect, or unauthorised modification will be charged to the Customer.

4. Damage, Liability, and Insurance

The Customer is responsible for ensuring adequate public liability and equipment insurance covers the hire period. If the Customer does not have insurance, a damage waiver fee of 12.5% of the total hire value will be applied. This fee covers the Company's risk exposure and does not replace the Customer's obligation to take reasonable care of the equipment. The damage waiver is non-refundable and applies to the hire value, not as a substitute for proper insurance.

5. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise stated on the invoice, payment terms are 7 days from the invoice date. A deposit may be required at the time of acceptance to confirm your booking. The Company reserves the right to suspend or cancel services if payment is not received within the agreed terms. Overdue accounts may incur late payment fees.

6. Deposits

Where a deposit is required, it is due upon acceptance of the quote and must be received before equipment is dispatched or delivered. The deposit forms part of the total hire cost and is not an additional charge. Deposits are non-refundable if the hire is cancelled within 48 hours of the agreed start date.

7. Cancellation

The Customer may cancel a booking by giving written notice. Cancellations received more than 48 hours before the agreed start date will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations within 48 hours of the start date may incur a fee equal to 50% of the hire total. If the Company cancels a booking, no charge will be applied to the Customer.

8. Delivery and Pickup

Where delivery is included, the Company will deliver equipment to the agreed site address. The Customer must ensure safe and unobstructed access for delivery and pickup. If access is not available at the agreed time, additional delivery charges may apply. Where the Customer has selected trailer transport with self-pickup, the Customer is responsible for collecting the equipment from the Company's depot.

9. Installation

Where installation is included, the Company will install and commission equipment at the agreed site. The Customer is responsible for providing a safe working environment and ensuring site access. If installation cannot proceed due to site conditions not disclosed at the time of booking, additional call-out fees may apply.

10. Force Majeure

Neither party shall be liable for failure or delay in meeting obligations due to events beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, weather events, civil unrest, or other force majeure circumstances. In such circumstances, the Company will use reasonable efforts to minimise the impact on the Customer.

11. Acceptance of Quote

A quote is valid for 7 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Acceptance of a quote constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. The Company reserves the right to amend pricing if the hire period, equipment requirements, or site conditions change from those quoted.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State in which the Company operates. The Customer acknowledges that by engaging the Company's services, they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of booking.
